Blog

If I had my own blog it would be about photography. I absolutely adore taking pictures, editing pictures, and share these pictures online. I think having my own blog would allow me to express my self and create an online identity that I hope would inspire fellow photographers.

I recently came across Improve Photography. Which started out as a simple blog site, now has expanded into a business venture. Jim Harmer, the blogger, started blogging about different techniques and shots he would take in the week. The Jim's blog site now has been up for quit a while so he has a lot of information that is interesting and very helpful.

The site it's self now has different categories where Jim blogs about different things, such as lenses, tips, and flash photography. I think that Jim harmer publishes inspiring words, coupled with inspiring pictures. I think communicating to an audience doesn't necessarily have to strictly come from your written work, I think a blogger can have a huge impact from the images they choose to represent a particular feeling or topic. If I created my own blog I hope that I could be just as motivating and inspiring as Jim Harmer!

Blog

If i had a blog of my own, I would make it about photography/travel and my previous experience with photography both travel related with beautiful pictures from visited places, and also unique photographs that could be based off of anything. I've searched for some blogs and there's one blog that i'm specifically fond of and that blog is http://www.photographyblogger.net, and the blog is pretty much what it sounds like. It's a great blog for newer photographers like me where they give tips, and show reviews, and they also have photographs of many things across many different subjects. I also really like the layout and the way that there is something out there for every photographer. Below is an example of a picture guide that was recently uploaded and that people could discuss.

If i had to create my own blog, it would be about photography on a slightly smaller scale than this blog that i have chosen to view. One thing that would be truly different is that my blog would focus entirely on environmental photography such as nature and photography of beautiful places from around the world. I developed my love from photography mainly based off of influences in the family who did photography, and then i got to see how much fun it was. One thing that i would definitely change when it comes to my blog would be the fact that members of my blog would be encouraged to post comments, and communicate with each other, and this is something i feel that this blog above has a difficult time doing.

If I had a blog

If I had a blog, I would prefer having a travel experience blog. In my blog, I would write a lot about my travel  in six countries I have visited. Registered members would be able to post their travel experiences with pictures and videos.
I came across a blog called "www.wanderingearl.com" as a model blog. The owner of the blog engaged with his audience. He replies to each one by calling their name if they identify themselves.

I think if a blog owner engages with the readers that would encourage readers to visit the blog more often and become part of the community.  My model blog owner accepts an online donation from readers as he is a full time traveler and he visited 83 countries. However, I wouldn't have included this feature into my blog if I had my own.

Starting My Own Blog: Not From Scratch

When I think about doing something that is my own that I would take pride in, I generally tend to review back to things that I didn't like as examples and improve on it.
With that being said, I take that same mindset into deciding what kind of blog I enjoy reading and participating in.
The two blogs that I am very fond of are Tumblr and BuzzFeed. By saying this, I am admitting that I am not interested in forums very much. I prefer reading stories, sharing them, and "liking" them.
In terms of anonymity, I realize the Internet is not very trustworthy in that department but I feel more secure on these websites because the level of users they have and how well known they are. Because of that, I have more faith in my security in what I post, my information, and my email address.
I am unclear whether forums allow users to become "private" which would have the users choose who they want to read their posts. I know that this is an option for these two blog sites.

Therefore, if I were to choose what type of blog I would have, I would decide that I would keep the blogs that I am currently participating because of the aforementioned reasons.

Creating my own blog

If I was to create my own blog, it would be all about photography. I am very interested in this and have been for the past couple years. I currently have my own blog where I post my photos. The photo to the left shows my blog. These are not all the photos that I have posted, but it gives a general idea of what my page looks like. I really like the features that this blog has. If I was to create my own, I don't think I would change much. If I changed anything, it would be the comment section. I would really like to see feedback from other users; but I would want it to be monitored for swears or trolling. The purpose of my blog would be to share the photos I have created. The blog would be a positive community where I could share my work with others.

                Starting My Own Blog

For me starting my own blog is a tough decision. From my experience throughout blogging I don't think you always have to be qualified about things. There are many successful bloggers who just write about personal things. I think to myself, what topics would appeal to the audience? My suggestion would be cooking or a movie blog. Nowadays, McDonalds, Wendy's, Burger King, etc. seem to be very popular, so why not make a blog about cooking. Give my favorite recipes, tips on cooking, top 10 healthiest recipes, etc. Take pictures of freshly cooked food, start charts, conduct surveys, put up ads about your blog, etc. I can also suggest movies, such as my favs, the 10 worst ____ movies, summaries of movies, your movie ratings, info about actors, and other things like that. With an Internet world spreading, Blogging is a great way to go with it.

My Blog

Hmmmm. My own blog. If I were to create my own blog it would by evolve around the discussion of the sport of basketball. Basketball is a passion of mine and I would be able to have insightful input about information going up on my blog. Any person would be able to become a member. Members would be able to post pictures, videos and comment. I would also ask daily or weekly question having to do with the latest basketball news, for example, who will win the championship this year? There would also be daily and weekly polls to interact with users. Depending on how large the member base reaches there might need to be a body of administrators keeping a watchful of the mechanics of the blog.

The discussion of basketball can go past just the Nation Basketball Association, talking about what the best junior camps are and who the rising starts are. My hope is that people globally will come to this blog to find out the best information.
