Even the internet generation of today isn't immune to tricksters. Trolls are an everyday thing. Twitter and Tumblr are full of them. I did some digging around to see the very best Trolls there are. I came across The Powerbook Prank. A man named Jeff was selling a laptop on Ebay when an obvious scammer contacted him to buy it imediately. Jeff continued to lead him on and made an aggrement to send the laptop before he recieved payment. After consulting the thread he started about the scammer he decided to continue the sale, however with a twist.
It became an international job when they had spies watching for the package to be delivered across the world. Jeff was aware that the scammer had finally received the package when he got a virus emailed to him. Guess he learned his lesson. It's very amusing to read the whole story. This was an example of Trolling for a good cause which however isn't usually the case.
My chosen online community is called Control Booth. It's mainly for theatre and motion picture technicians. I have yet to find any evidence of rude behavior with even the scent of trolling. I have noticed however that they don't take very well to poor grammar and their form of humiliation is correcting you. That's about as flamey as it gets on Control Booth.
I enjoyed how you showed trolling can have a good side. Informing people about scams on the internet is good plus everyone gets a laugh out of it at the same time!
