To the eye of the reader it can be interpreted that this writer may have a soft spot for goofiness and a broad sense of humour- this interpretation is correct. This image presents a ethos of a fun loving individual who still keeps an image of professionalism to him. Yes, the beer and cigarette may contradict the profession image with the business suit and all but with this is a tell you how it is in the real world ethos comes off as well. The reader may not pin this avatar with a writer who puts pen to paper for the 'Daily Paint Dry' newsletter but rather a writer of a blog who lets people know what is up in the world, no bullshit ! I can admit that to the naked eye this avatar would lack the expertise of a well qualified writer but is that really what its going for ? I would say that the place for this certain avatar wouldn't be hanging around the business environment but writing on the internet for music blogs like Pitch Fork or EarMilk.

It gives power to the writer to put on a costume and speak out his or her mind. The world may choose to listen or not but its a chance to see who shares the same values and beliefs so that a person knows they arn't the only South Park like character walking earth.
