Blog

If I had my own blog, I would like it to focus on political events and globalization. I find it very interesting where our world is headed in terms of international relationships, trade agreements and where it will lead us in the future. For years, educational institutions have been noting the economic progress China has been making. Within the next few years they will be the leading economy. Although this information has been provided, many people will be surprised when it actually happens. I feel that people need to be more aware of what is going on around them and as a citizen of a country and as a person in our world it is crucial to know how the policies and decisions are governments make will affect us. “ I’m not interested in politics” should not be a excuse. I would create this blog where it would be accessible to the mass population not a specific segment; much of this can be marketed through other social media networks.

The design of the blog would have strict policies regarding trolling type behaviors. Healthy discussions and debate would be encouraged. In terms of finding the information easily and allowing the audience to see the impacts in a wide view, the page would be organized like a web (similar to visual thesaurus  but more clear). For example you would be able to access information regarding Canada but then be able to explore Canada’s relationships with other groups and how policies and current trends are affecting other areas.

Given the topic, pseudonyms would be allowed this way if a user who is apart of a group such as a politician; they would be able to freely comment without discrimination or fear. They would be required to sign up using their legal names but this information would be private and only used during a situation that would require more investigation. This would hold each person accountable for his or her actions, but give them the freedom to speak as open as they see fit.

In order to post, the user would have to identify the area in the web it would fit into. This post would be open for other members to make additional connections to other areas, creating a relationship.

Instead of a addressing a specific user in the blog, where a member would have to search to see if it was responded to; it would be designed where users respond to a feed where the original user would be notified and the feed would be visible to all members. One would only post a new blog entry if it were a new topic.

The web like set up would allow members to find others who are interested in the same discussion more easily fostering a healthy online relationship.

Users would be allowed to report behaviors that are offensive, abusive or violent. Any information posted would also be required to be linked to a source, unless it posed a danger to the user.
