"Communicating through text messaging has become so popular that the
Oxford English Dictionary now includes “textish” terms, such as LOL
(laugh out loud), OMG (oh my God) and TMI (too much information), making
them an official part of the English language"
After further investigation i find that this topic is very controversial. People seem to either be on one end or the other end of the fight. This is to say people are either arguing that texting does ruin a persons ability to write or that they don't, no one tends to be in the middle of the argument.however i personally believe that texting absolutely changes peoples ability to write. Whether this is writing a grocery list or writing a university paper people have changed. I know that i personally will abbreviate most of my essay and go back to re-write and expand on my ideas. I feel like this quote says it all. The oxford dictionary is a prestigious dictionary so i feel like once a word makes it into the dictionary the language has changed. With further research i am confident i will be able to prove that texting has changed the english language...
Working thesis: The text messaging slang would not be a problem if it would remain it its designated area however it has started to leak out into modern society. Popping up in dictionaries, essays, and newspapers texting slangs will soon permanently integrate into society.
