Anonymity

The internet has its positives and negatives, there is always a give and take. Information on websites such as Wikipedia may be legitimate or just complete rubbish, it all depends on the credibility of the individual who has posted this information. Personally a Wikipedia page which doesn't have a name or reference attached to it is just a useless waste of time.

The use of a real name can affect ones privacy but if that is ones concern then why join bother using the internet. I understand that there are people who want to cause harm and knowingly steal ones identity but it shouldn't affect freedom of speech. Twitter is an amazing social media giant which has millions of users including celebrities, twitter does a great job to verify if a user is fake or real for example people make fake accounts under the name of a famous celebrity but twitter has fought back by verifying accounts.

Going anonymous is good and bad, first of all those that have trouble speaking their minds may be better off to go anonymous as they will be able to express their feelings about a particular subject. On the flip side if a name isn't attached to a comment it may be disregarded although it may be a great comment. Personally I believe one should use their real name as it boost the credibility and possibly ones stature in society.
