A case for Pseudonyms

Pseudonyms and anonymity is important in this era of technology.  They provide cover ups of your personal life being hidden from the general public.  A lot of companies who are looking to hire new employees may use the internet in order to gather information on a person.  Pseudonyms help conceal the private matters in your life from the people that have no business in your private life.  Having your real name on the internet might stop you from getting a certain job.  The way the internet is built now, people can search almost anything and everything.

Cyber bullying is another main concern, anyone who wants to give their own opinion online may gain unfavorable comments that may hurt or threaten that person.  Amanda Todd is an example of how extreme cyber bullying can affect ones life.  The internet may be an amazing invention but with no barriers on peoples opinions, this can be very threatening and dangerous.

Activists working in countries with brutal and extreme governments should use pseudonyms to protect themselves.  Their opinions on the government could result in harmful backlash that may threaten their livelihood.  I believe that Pseudonyms and remaining anonymous online is something more people should be trying to practice.
