Texting has brought the world together through this quick and instead means of communication, but in the process it has harmed the writing and literacy skills of people that use text message continuously.

Texting has taken over the majority of instead communication worldwide as stated that on “average 2,899 text messages per month compared to 191 calls [in 2009] and  the average number of texts has gone up [by] 566% in just two year” (Nielsen Company, par 6).  When a study called the relationship between text messages volume and formal performance among upper level high school students and college freshman tested this theory. “The purpose of this study was to reveal whether there is a relationship between students’ volume of text messaging and formal writing performance on the Scholastic Aptitude Test writing section” (Wardyga, p3).
