Youtube

This article by Daniel Margolls about how youtube has changed what we've been doing in politics, divorce, and violence didn't surprise me too much because there is a wide variety of content that can be found on youtube due to the fact that absolutely anyone can upload a video if they have a youtube account. Youtube is changing what people have conversations about with videos being more commonly brought up to create conversations. Youtube can and has brought people together whether it is sharing similar interests in a video, or making friends and asking them to be in your videos. Youtube was founded in February 2005, and I am quite amazed to see how fast it grew, how helpful it can be to everyone who need to search up something for tutorials or for entertainment. The concern for the rise in violence is real, and that is one thing that youtube doesn't work too hard to prevent. People are getting into the thought process that posting videos is a way of expressing themselves to a larger media, and everyone has their own approach to it, although people are realizing that violence is fairly popular and the uploaders are performing these acts to be noticed and attract attention.

I use youtube on a regular basis and i can say that it's very helpful and entertaining in many ways since there are almost endless categories that you can search up. I generally tend to view videos in the comedy section and try to find new, entertaining channels but sometimes i stumble upon them through recommended videos. Youtube can really be helpful especially in university and other post secondaries when you want to learn everything about microsoft word, excel or other programs and are having problems figuring it out. My casual uses of youtube would also include listening to music from many different genres and see what i can stumble upon from the related videos section. I have a fair bit of youtube experience as an uploader but that has mainly just been helping work on montages and providing commentaries for video game clips, and when i was younger i uploaded a few videos just to test it out. I am mainly a viewer in the youtube community but i would say that with a little bit of effort anyone can be a good contributor to uploading videos and helping others out. I feel that the comment threads provide a lot of variety, and it's a known fact that starting on youtube isn't easy because you have a lot of competition, and if your videos aren't as good as theirs and the uploads aren't as timely you will be criticized, but some feedback may be helpful in improving yourself.
