YouTube

YouTube has taken over video media and social media in general. It gives people the opportunity to watch videos on almost any topic; from TV shows, sports, beauty and health tips, and news. I think that it can be considered one of the most important websites ever created, because it brings together millions of people to watch the same videos. The Gangnam Style video by Psy is a good example of this as it brought together Asian viewers and Western viewers.

The article makes a good point when it talks about the importance of YouTube in politics, especially when it comes to Mitt Romney and how it documented the changes in his statements. I think it makes politicians more accountable for everything they say as it can be permanently documented and anyone who has internet access can view it. It helps voters to aware of what candidates are saying and whether or not they are consistent and honest.

This video shows Mitt Romney making his infamous comments about 47% of Americans. Which after going viral, may have cost him the election.

I don't think YouTube can be held accountable for violence posted on its' site. They should be responsible for the timely removal of offensive videos, but they are not the cause of the videos. People see YouTube as a chance to gain their 15 minutes of fame, but YouTube does not encourage any inappropriate videos.
I think YouTube is a very helpful resource for learning and sharing and the wide spread impact it has had is impressive and generally positive.
